Maryanne Zucal, founder of Columbine Cable Company, started her telecommunications career in New York in 1984, working with high-profile clients needing to utilize leading edge technology. Ms. Zucal also joined the IBEW Local #3 Telecommunications Division, and attended IBEW Telecom School from 1984-1988, receiving her telecom degree. Ms. Zucal was a certified and highly trained fiber technician with five manufacturer certifications by 1990. Merrill Lynch and American Express International Headquarters were two of the many organizations in which Maryanne had the pleasure of learning all aspects of cabling design, installation, components, and the introduction of fiber optics to the workplace.
These large-scale jobs (50,000+ employee buildings) greatly accelerated her knowledge of the industry. With her career advancing, she relocated to Bell South Communications install large telephone systems (NEC, Nortel, and AT&T) for thousands of users. At Bell South, Ms. Zucal installed outside plant cable for New York Telephone. The installations consisted of aerial and underground cables on telephone poles and through manholes.
After returning to Colorado in 1992, Maryanne (Doyle, at the time) started Columbine Cable Company in Arvada, Colorado. Being self-employed, she used her New York references to help establish her business in Colorado. Eventually, she was able to start adding staff, allowing her to take on large jobs, and attract high-profile customers like Lehman Brothers/Aurora Loan Services, Cimerex Energy Company, IBM Global Services, United Airlines, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Land Management, Colorado Department of Transportation, and the Department of Defense.
Due to the superior quality of work that Maryanne instilled into the organization, and the high standards that all of Columbine's employees adhere to, Columbine Cable Company, Inc. has become an established organization in Colorado.
